Watro Honored as ‘Citizen of the Year’ by Hazleton Elks Lodge No. 200

April 20, 2026

HAZLETON – On Saturday, April 18, Rep. Dane Watro (R-Luzerne/Schuylkill) was honored by the Grand Lodge, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and Hazleton Lodge No. 200 as the recipient of the organizations’ “2025-26 Distinguished Citizenship Award” for “outstanding and meritorious service to humanity.”

“Being selected as Hazleton Elks Lodge No. 200’s ‘Citizen of the Year’ is humbling for me considering all the past people who were recognized with this award for their outstanding community service and exemplifying the Elks' motto ‘Elks Care – Elks Share,’” said Watro.

Watro was also presented with a Pennsylvania Senate citation by state Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) to recognize the Elks’ award. In the citation, Argall noted Watro “has an extensive history of serving his community and country,” including his military service in the U.S. Army; membership in Hazleton Elks Lodge No. 200; service as a second-term state representative for the 116th Legislative District; eight years as McAdoo’s mayor; and service as past president of Schuylkill County Concerned Citizens and as a member of the VFW, American Legion, AMVETS and the Lions Club.
