Watro, Argall Announce State Funding for Recreation Project in Schuylkill County
HARRISBURG – Rep. Dane Watro (R-Luzerne/Schuylkill) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) today announced a state grant in the amount of $91,000 has been awarded to North Union Township to complete a community park project. The funding was awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources through the Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2).
Specifically, the funding will go toward further development of Nuremberg Community Park, including construction of a pedestrian walkway, installation of playground equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, signage, landscaping and other related site improvements
“This park is an important asset to the community, but it is in need of an upgrade,” said Watro. “That’s why we worked to secure the state funding to make these improvements possible in order to provide a safe, modern recreational facility for all to enjoy.”
“I’m grateful this highly competitive funding will improve Nuremberg Community Park, providing local children with an even better place to enjoy the outdoors,” said Argall.
C2P2 assists local governments and recreation and conservation organizations with funding for projects related to parks, recreation and conservation. The program is funded through a variety of state and federal sources.
